The centerpiece, and inlayed in to the cap, is hand turned Padauk, this wood, Pterocarpus soyauxii, also known as Vermillion, is a hardwood native to central and tropical west Africa. The artisan's goal in crafting this smoking pipe was to create a unique conversation piece that also allows for a contaminant free, smooth drawing smoke. The design is based on
