在臺灣和香港，政治和資本之間的交叉關係愈來愈不確定。臺灣在解除戒嚴以後，國家政權的結構重組，政治與經濟的結合再洗盤，媒介一方面走出白色恐怖的陰影，言論百無禁忌，一方面又受制於財團控制，立場藍綠對立，統獨糾纏不休，致使公共領域薄弱。香港的新聞自由一向享譽全球，儘管備受種種詬病，大致尚能維持媒介公信和多元自主。可悲的是北京的政治暴力霸凌，與正常市場運作的關係失衡，新聞自由被《國安法》的鐵拳打得節節敗退，如斷崖式滑落。

at last returned to the ancestral fold

封面字体 关于这本书封面字体的设计，我请陈志勇发给了我一些日文版、韩文版、法文版的封面图。我研究后发现有两种形式，一种是保留英文版“the lost thing”的设计，只是在空白处写上自己国家的文字，比如说日文版就是这样处理的，因为他们最大程度地尊重了原著。一种会用自己国家的字体重新设计，比如韩语版。我还是觉得要尊重作者还有读者的一种对多样性呈现的期待，所以我们选择了请专业的字体设计师雷建忠老师把“the lost thing”这个字体用中文重新设计。在雷老师的建议下，我们大胆地向陈志勇请求他提供自己做这本书时候的素材库。陈志勇慷慨地应允了，大家可以看到“失物招领”这四个字背后的底图就来自他的素材库。我们这版《失物招领》的书名是以另一种形式保留了“the lost thing”。因为每一个中文笔划都是从英文字母的结构里面拆解出来的，比如说O、T、L，我们用英文字母原有的图形拼成了中文字体，字体里有书中管道和怪物触手的感觉，所以这也是一种创新吧。 其实，我们给了陈志勇老师三种选择，一种是“The Lost thing”加上中文小字的保留版，一种是选用一种常见的印刷字体，还有一种是用英文字母拆解变成中文字体的这种方式。陈志勇老师他选择了第三种。他当时给我们的邮件里面说这样的创意比较大胆和富有活力，所以我们最终尊重了陈志勇老师的选择，选择了目前的书名字体。 2
